HAND HELD BILLING SYSTEM
| Introduction The Corporation introduced the Hand Held Billing System on 5th April 1999 in its Kuching Station.
This note is intended to explain briefly about the system.
|
 | What is Hand Held Billing System? This involves taking Consumers Meter Reading at the premise,
using a Hand Held Computer and at the same time, print the
electricity bill via portable printer connected to the Computer.
This process is done on the spot; ie. at the Consumer's premise
and it takes approximately 15 seconds. For cases of
inaccessibility to the meter because the house gate or Meter
Cabinet is locked, the bills will be estimated based on previous
historical record.
|
| If Consumers wish to amend their electricity bill because of over or under-estimate, they may provide the
actual meter reading and come to our Service Counter for the adjustment & amended bill. The Corporation
may need to verify the meter as necessary. |

USING ENERGY WISELY
(This information is taken from a booklet distributed by the
SESCO Customer Service, Kuching)
Know Your Home Appliances Energy Consumption & Operating Cost
This booklet is designed to give you information about how much energy your household appliances use and how much they cost to operate

Please keep in mind that these figures are only estimates. The actual consumption of your appliances may vary greatly, depending on such
things as size of your family, the size and age of your appliances, and how often they are used.
The cost figures used in this booklet are based on average cost of $0.29 per kilowatt hours
(kwh) of electricity. Additional information can be

How to figure appliance costs?
The list provided may not include all of the electrical appliances you use. If your appliance is not listed in the chart or if the wattage is
different, you can determine the approximate operating cost if you know three things :
-
Wattage of the appliance (usually found in a metal plate or etched into the appliance).
-
Number of hours you use your appliance.
-
Amount you pay per kilowatt-hour for electricity.
When you have these three numbers, use the following formula to find the cost of using your appliance.
wattage of appliance
x hours of operation
1000
| x electric rate |
|
= operation cost.
|
|
|
e.g A 130 watts TV set is used for 5 hours daily. There fore the cost of using the TV set daily would be
130 x 5
1000
| x 0.29 (on average cost) = 0.19 cent
|
Assuming that the usage is constant, the cost for using TV set for a month
(assume 30 days) would be
0.19 cent x 30 days = $5.70
